Additional Legal
Services |
| |
The primary focus of our firm is
criminal law and real estate law, however, as a result of many
client requests, we are also able to provide assistance in the
types of matters detailed below.
- Name Changes - People have many reasons
for seeking to legally change their name from giving an
adopted or step-child a family last name to avoiding confusion
as adults with similarly named siblings or parents. Name
changes can also be accomplished for religious purposes or any
other reason. Our services include finalizing all name changes
with the state for issuance of new vital records, MVC for
driver's license changes, etc.
- Wills
and Livings Wills - We are experienced in reviewing
your personal situation and drafting a Last Will and Testament
specifically tailored to your needs and financial status. A
will specifies how your property is to be distributed upon
death and can also specify guardians for minor children or set
up trusts for the benefit of minor children.
A Living
Will specifies your wishes for medical care or treatment in
the event you are incapacitated and/or unable to express your
desires. Over the years, there have been numerous infamous
cases involving families fighting over how to treat or care
for incapacitated loved ones and what the person would have
wanted. A Living Will ensures your wishes are met and relieves
family from the stress of arguing over, or speculating about,
what you would have wanted.
Living Wills also generally
contains a Healthcare Proxy appointing one or two people to
specifically act on your behalf and ensure your Living Will
wishes are known and honored as well as giving that person the
authority to make any intervening medical decisions
(frequently a spouse). A general Power of Attorney is another
useful document often executed with the Will and Living Will.
The general Power of Attorney grants another (frequently a
spouse) the right to act as if they were you for business,
banking, legal transactions, etc. This can be useful in the
event of illness, military or other extended absences and to have
available in the event of emergency.
- Corporate Formation -
Whether you are starting a new business, changing legal status
or name, or creating a corporate form for your real estate or
other investments, we can help get you started. Typical
turn-around from first call to a formed NJ corporation is only
days and typically includes a full corporate kit with
by-laws/operating agreement forms, custom binder, and
corporate seal embosser.
- Other Legal
Matters - We are frequently consulted by existing
or new clients concerning areas of law we do not cover. Rather
than take a case in an area where we might expose clients to
unknown liability, or not achieve their full legal remedy, we
can make a referral to other competent counsel with a focus on
those other areas. We maintain strong contacts and working
relationships with other firms and attorneys handling
bankruptcy, litigation, Pennsylvania matters, complex estate
planning, medical malpractice, personal injury, etc. Should
you have a case outside our practice areas, but would like to
discuss an appropriate referral, please contact
us at your convenience.
